Anyone who is just looking to get in as much a gaming as possible at a convention would probably be better suited at Origins than Gen-Con, for sure. But for anyone who relishes the atmosphere as much as the gaming, you definitely have to pick Gen Con. For me, the auction was always the best part of both conventions, and obviously Origins has eliminated in recent years which really kills most of my remaining interest in going. Though I have to say North Market is about the best place to hang out while waiting to do something else. Nothing quite like that in Indianapolis

Origins and Gen-Con were... quite similarly-sized in 1988 and 1992, I think you will find :)
